research interests:
My research interests include: a) influences of vegetation as roughness and resistance on stream banks and floodplains, and b) methods and application of river restoration practices.

dissertation research:
Engineers are interested in acquiring methods to represent vegetation accurately in hydraulic, sediment transport, and channel evolution models. Many of the hydraulic and geotechnical mechanisms describing the role of vegetation on erosion have been quantified in past experiments; however, quantitative information regarding the applied shear stress caused by vegetation is lacking. The key objective of my dissertation is to quantify the applied shear stress caused by vegetation, by conducting a sequence of flume studies to explore the relationship between applied shear stress and the natural conditions and properties of plants.

personal interests:
When not doing research, I love to work in the garden and explore the great outdoors.
