Wetlands have long been converted to agricultural lands and paved over for development. Gradually, we are grasping the importance of wetland functions, and many remaining wetlands are set aside for preservation. However wetland restoration is also crucial to return many areas to their historical natural states. I am particularly interested in the role wetlands play in nutrient sequestration and release in the Upper Klamath Basin and the relationship of external and internal nutrient loading of the Upper Klamath Lake. I feel that understanding the procedures and management techniques of wetland restoration is an important stepping stone to understanding the relationships of internal and external loading.

My research interests also include the construction of phosphorus budgets of lake basins and sub-basins, and determining the amount of P reduction necessary to limit algae production and regenerate endangered fish populations.

My personal interests include swimming, traveling, gardening, and generally anything that requires hip waders!
